Make some noise in this course that builds upon the foundation of tap dance technique. With warmups and drills focusing on tap dance vocabulary, clarity of sound, rhythmic variety, aesthetically quality, and the beginnings of improvisation, students will apply their skills to rhythm and show tap choreography. We recommend having a basic tap dance vocabulary including shuffles, flaps, riffles, paradiddles, drawbacks, etc. Tap shoes required.

Anna Kimmell is an actor, educator, and theatre artist from Atlanta, GA. A graduate of Elon University with a BFA in Musical Theatre, she has performed in regional productions at RI’s Theatre by the Sea, CO’s Lake Dillon Theatre, VA’s Mill Mountain Theatre, NC’s Flat Rock Playhouse, AR’s Arkansas Repertory Theatre, GA’s Georgia Shakespeare and Theatre of the Stars, and on The Wizard of OZ National Tour, to name a few. As an educator, Anna specializes in musical theatre, acting, and dance curricula for students of all ages. She served as the Director of Education at Mill Mountain Theatre in Virginia, Arkansas Repertory Theatre in Little Rock, and Flat Rock Playhouse in North Carolina, where she developed and managed year-round theatrical training programs for all ages, designed and led theatre outreach initiatives, and directed and choreographed main stage, black box, and touring children’s productions. From 2018-2020, Anna performed as a company member of Untapped, Arkansas’ only professional tap dance company, and served as faculty member of the Little Rock Tap Festival. On a university level, Anna has served as an adjunct and guest professor at Hollins University and the University of Central Arkansas. In 2022, she assumed the role of Director of Education and Engagement at the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts in Asheville, North Carolina.
