A Downtown and Off-Broadway sensation, Murder Ballad was the must see theatre experience of 2013. Conceived by Jonathan Larson Award winner and two-time Susan Smith Blackburn Prize finalist, Julia Jordan, with book and lyrics by Jordan and music and lyrics by indie rock singer/songwriter, Juliana Nash, Murder Ballad is a steamy and fun thriller with a razor’s edge.
Murder Ballad is the dramatic story of a love triangle gone wrong, centering on Sara, an uptown girl who seems to have it all, but whose downtown past lingers enticingly and dangerously in front of her.
Murder Ballad is recommended for mature audiences ages 16 and older. This intense, 90-minute rock musical is performed without an intermission and contains physical violence, a graphic murder, sexual references, and strong language. Audiences will be seated close to the action. Viewer discretion is advised.
Step inside the story with VIP seating for Murder Ballad, featuring an immersive cabaret-style experience that puts you right in the heart of the action. VIP guests will also receive a special surprise from Asheville Musical Theatre. Due to the intimate seating arrangement, parties larger than three may be split across multiple tables.
Conceived by and with book and lyrics by Julia Jordan.
Murder Ballad is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
