Out of a Flood – Helene Documentary Premiere
Sat, Nov 14, 2026 • 7 pm
Tina McGuire Theatre
Out of a Flood is a feature documentary about Hurricane Helene revealing a side of disasters that rarely gets depicted in the media. Focusing on the tight-nit communities of volunteers that formed so neighbors could survive and rebuild, local filmmaker Thomas Flight followed artists, residents and business owners in the River Arts District, Marshall, Swannanoa and Bat Cave in the year following the storm. A meditative, firsthand account of the loss endured and the strength and beauty of the community bonds that were formed. Join us for the world premiere, introduced by the director and featuring a musical performance by Sarah Elizabeth Burkey. Running Time 90 minutes.
