Ongoing classes are held in the Henry LaBrun Studio. Please access the Wortham Center from the breezeway on 18 Biltmore Ave. by White Duck Taco. Once you enter the front courtyard, signs will direct you to the studio door to the left. Parking information can be found here.
COMMUNITY CLASSES
Community classes are free to the public. Donations to the Y.E.S. Fund are encouraged. No registration is necessary. Participate every week or drop in when you are available!

Adult Beginning/Intermediate Ballet, Ages 18+
Mondays from 6:45 – 8:15 p.m. in the Henry LaBrun Studio
Donation-Based, Ongoing – No class on Memorial Day
This donation-based class taught by Allison Hertzberg is perfect for adults getting started or revisiting ballet again after many years. With a focus on alignment, technique, and movement quality, dancers will move through basic barre and center exercises, building on foundational steps and choreography. All levels are welcome, though a basic understanding of ballet principles is useful.
Free! Donations to the Y.E.S. Fund are encouraged.

Gentle Yoga with Miranda Watson
Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. in the Henry LaBrun Studio
Donation-Based, Ongoing
Miranda guides students through a slow and fluid sequence of postures that encourage improved flexibility, range of motion, balance, coordination, and strength. No experience necessary.

CLASSES WITH STEWART/OWEN DANCE
Get moving with Asheville-based contemporary dance company Stewart/Owen Dance, offering ongoing classes for all levels of experience.

Lifelong Dance, Ages 55+
Wednesdays from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m.
June 14, July 26, August 9 in the Henry LaBrun Studio
This class led by Jamie Brege-DeVito encourages joyful exploration of movement and music and strengthens the brain-body connection. This class is accessible to participants with movement restrictions or chronic injuries. No prior dance experience required.

Open Level Contemporary Dance
Tuesdays from 6 – 7:30 p.m. with Jamie DeVito
May 2 – 30 in the Henry LaBrun Studio
This class awakens the body through guided improv and a follow along warm-up, followed by foundational across-the-floor exercises and creative phrase work. While movers of any experience level are welcome, a basic knowledge of contemporary dance forms is encouraged.

Adult Intermediate Contemporary Dance
Wednesdays from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
May 3 – 31 in the Henry LaBrun Studio
Recommended for adult dancers with 1-2 years previous experience, this class with Stewart/Owen Dance is designed to hone contemporary dance technique through repetitive exercises, creative exploration and choreographic phrase work. Instructors Vanessa Owen and Gavin Stewart encourage dancers to modify for their own bodies!

Adult Intro to Contemporary Dance
Saturdays from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m.
May 6 – June 3 in the Henry LaBrun Studio
This class led by Vanessa Owen and Gavin Stewart of Stewart/Owen Dance gradually awakens the body and senses through guided improvisation or warm-up, followed by foundational across-the-floor exercises and creative phrase work. Movers of any experience level are welcome and encouraged to modify for their own bodies’ needs!

Adult Theatre Jazz
Tuesdays at 6 p.m.
June 13, July 25, August 8 in the Henry LaBrun Studio
Led by Broadway veteran Nick Kepley, this class is designed to introduce students to the classic styles of Theatre Jazz dance while emphasizing the importance of storytelling, and the personal styles of each individual student. Class is geared towards students with two years previous dance experience but welcomes newcomers who are ready to give it their all!
