Henry LaBrun Studio at the Wortham Center
Instructor: Miranda Watson

This class connects the breath with movement to calm and soothe the nervous system and soften the body, mind, and spirit into openness and stillness. Miranda encourages mindfulness and present moment awareness as she skillfully guides students through a slow and fluid sequence of seated, standing, and reclined postures that encourage improved flexibility, range of motion, balance, coordination, and strength. Modifications are offered to dial up or dial down a pose to aid each student in finding the just right level of sensation in the body. The class ends with a guided meditation and Savasana for deep relaxation. All levels are welcome. Please bring a yoga mat and any props you might need.

About the instructor: As a lifelong dancer, Miranda Watson, MEd and E-RYT 500, was first drawn to yoga in 2002 for the physical benefits, but soon discovered that it also helped her to manage stress, quiet the mind, and connect with her inner wisdom. She fell in love with yoga, developed a daily practice, and eventually changed careers to become a full-time yoga instructor in 2019 through Asheville Yoga Center. Miranda enjoys sharing her love and knowledge of yoga through encouraging students to grow and sustain a compassionate and trusting relationship with their body, mind, and spirit through yoga. Her classes skillfully prepare the body for greater opening and strengthening, are guided by healthy alignment principles, emphasize connecting the breath with movement, and encourage mindfulness and present moment awareness. After being a city girl for years, she moved out to the country on the edge of the Pisgah National Forest with her husband, two children, and pets, to enjoy the slower pace of life and beauty of being close to nature. She loves to cook meals using produce from her garden, read, write, dance, hike, and take long walks with family and friends. To learn more, go to mirandawatsonyoga.com.
