Aquila Theatre Master Class
Saturday, February 4 from 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Intermediate, Ages 16+, Henry LaBrun Studio
This Physical Theatre Master Class is designed to allow participants to experience the requirements and disciplines of working and performing in a physical theatre company. It focuses on forming an ensemble style of acting that will interpret and serve the text, as well as explore the ways in which kinesthetic empathy operates. By sharing some of the Aquila Theatre Company’s rituals, in the form of movement, and improv, the participant will explore the imaginative and physical resources that the company uses to create its own unique theatrical style. Malevo: Intro to Malambo

MALEVO, an all-male dance company, takes a modern, avant-garde approach to the Malambo – a traditional Argentine folk dance of great virility and dexterity. In this Master Class, discover the origins of Malambo, learn foundational steps and choreography, and enjoy an up-close dance demonstration by MALEVO! Cost: $15

Naturally 7 Vocal Master Class

In a distinct style they call “vocal play,” Naturally 7 transforms their voices into the sounds of a full instrumental band. Listen to demonstrations of their singing techniques, learn the tools they use to approach both art and life, and explore the range of your voice in this engaging musical master class. Cost: $15

Stewart/Owen Dance Master Class
Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
All Levels, Ages 16+, Henry LaBrun Studio
This workshop begins by gradually awakening the body and senses through guided improvisation and a follow-along warm up. Participants will learn a portion of choreography from Stewart/Owen Dance’s performance and be encouraged to modify movement for their own bodies. All experience levels are welcome! Cost: $15

American Patchwork Quartet: Intro to Indian Music
Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
All Levels, Ages 16+, Henry LaBrun Studio
In this interactive, open-level musical master class led by Indian-born singer, violinist, and composer Harini “Rini” Raghavan, participants will first learn about two different styles of classical Indian music: Carnatic and Hindustani. Rini will then demonstrate how American Patchwork Quartet weaves these Eastern influences into centuries-old American folk songs, exploring the musical similarities and differences, celebrating the dynamic diversity of contemporary culture, and reclaiming the immigrant soul of American Roots Music. Cost: $15
