Wortham Presents
Stewart/Owen Dance + Guests
Fri & Sat, May 1 & 2 • 7 pm
Program includes:
Eric Mullis – Instancing Network
New Dialect – Echo Mother
Stewart/Owen Dance – The Front (Asheville premiere)
Following their 2024 sold‑out run, this Stewart/Owen Ensemble performance includes a wild and whimsical piece—an examination of the pitfalls of comfort. Paired with The Front, their sharply charged satire, the contrast becomes striking. And with the distinct, rigorous, and bold voices of Banning Bouldin (New Dialect) and Eric Mullis—two nationally recognized Southern choreographers at the top of their craft—audiences can expect a program that’s layered and dynamic.
After six years of creation, education, and performances at Wortham Center—these performances are your last chance to see the company in its current iteration as it continues in new, more flexible artistic and educational forms. Be part of this landmark moment for Stewart/Owen Dance.
The Front was commissioned by American Dance Festival with support from The Mary Duke Biddle Foundation.
