Designed for advanced and professional-level dancers (15 & up), this class offers dancers the chance to dive deeply into the collaborative creative process tools Banning uses to develop new works. Dancers will explore generating detailed movement vocabularies and partnerships together and then use these skills to research scenes from Banning’s latest work, 21 Yeses.
Saturday, October 24, 2026 • 10:45 am–12:15 pm
People of all experience levels (ages 18+) are invited to join New Dialect’s resident choreographer and artistic director, Banning Bouldin, to explore the collaborative improvisation and composition games she played with New Dialect’s dancers to create the lighting design and choreography for 21 Yeses. All abilities are welcome. No previous dance experience required.

Imagining the tech-aesthetic of a space odyssey, New Dialect’s 21 Yeses blends contemporary dance with bold lighting technologies to explore light as movement and darkness as action. Choreographer Banning Bouldin (seen in Stewart/Owen Dance+ Guests in 2026) and production designer Michael Brown (Bon Iver) take audiences into a mesmerizing interplay where motion and illumination capture and release one another in an endless distance.
